233rd AAS Winter Meeting

I’ll be presenting a talk (ID 108.03) at the 233rd AAS in Seattle, Washington, on Monday January 7 at 10:30-10:40 am. I will present recent results on probing gas inflow with GBT Argus and ALMA mapping towards starless clump candidates.

Mutli-Scale Star Formation Meeting in Moralia, Mexico

I’ll be presenting at the Multi-Scale Star Formation meeting in Morelia, Mexico, between April 3-7. The meeting focuses on the high dynamic range of scales important to star formation, from stellar scales to galactic.

ARGUS observations on the GBT

On March 11 Yancy and I will travel to Green Bank, WV, for our 17B ARGUS observations studying infall in HCO+ towards high-mass starless clump candidates. Fingers crossed for good weather and low tau! ARGUS is a 16-pixel focal plane array operating in the rich 3 mm band between 85-116 GHz. The moderately high resolution of 9 arcseconds and fast mapping speed yield unprecedented imaging capabilities at 3 mm without the spatial filtering of an interferometer.

Presentation at 32nd Annual New Mexico Symposium

Right next door in Socorro, NM, I’ll be presenting a talk at the 32nd Annual New Mexico Symposium entitled “Properties of Starless Clumps through Protoclusters from the BGPS” on Nov 4. Afterwards, I’ll spend the following week working at the DSOC examining archival VLA data.

Poster at VIALACTEA in Rome

I’ll be presenting a poster at the VIALACTEA 2016 conference in Rome, Italy, showing our work with the BGPS and initial results from our high-resolution ALMA Cycle 3 observations.

Data Reduction in Charlottesville

Between August 10-24 I’ll be staying in Charlottesville, VA, reducing and analyzing our ALMA Cycle 3 data with the help Todd Hunter and Crystal Brogan at the NRAO.

Beginning and Advanced Astronomy Camp

In June I will be a camp counselor for the Beginning and Advanced Teen Astronomy Camps. Astronomy Camp is a wonderful opportunity for teens to learn astronomy through an “immersion” experience on Kitt Peak with world class professional telescopes. Among other duties I’ll be contributing my experience with the ARO facilities for projects involving radio astronomy and the ISM.

Presentation at From Stars to Massive Stars

On Wednesday April 6 I’ll be presentating a talk entitled “Protoclsuters in the Milky Way: Physical Properties of Massive Starless & Star-forming Clumps in the BGPS” at the From Stars to Massive Stars meeting in Gainesville, FL.

Workshop and Lunch Talk at VLA DSOC

I’ll be visiting Socorro, NM, for the 5th VLA data reduction workshop between March 14-18 and staying for further work until March 25. I’ll be giving a lunch seminar on my research at noon on Wednesday March 23.

Visit and R&G Lunch Talk at SAO/CfA

I’ll be visiting the Harvard/Smithsonian CfA to collaborate with SMA fellow Dr. Cara Battersby between June 4-16. I’ll also be presenting my research at the Radio and Geoastronomy Division lunch talk series on Friday June 12 at 12:30 pm. I am more than happy to meet and discuss research, so if you’re interested, please send me an email.

Star and Planet Formation in the Southwest

I’ll also be presenting a poster at the SPF-1 meeting in Tucson, Arizona, between March 23-27. My poster will report the results of our study comparing the physical conditions of BGPS clumps associated to different observational indicators of star-formation.

Soul of High-Mass Star Formation

I’ll be giving a talk at the Soul of High-Mass Star Formation meeting in Puerto Varas, Chile, between March 15-20. My talk will present the results of comparing the physical conditions of BGPS clumps associated to different observational indicators of star-formation. In addition we identify and characterize a large sample of starless clump candidates.
